The Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk is a cheap option for those who are looking to switch up the way they are working without spending too much money. The product allows the user to easily switch between a seated position and standing up while working and comes in two different models to ensure the needs of the customer can be perfectly met.

While one of the most affordable options out there, some concerns have been raised in terms of the standing desk. Thus, customers who are interested in this particular option should weigh the pros and cons appropriately, and consider all of their options before deciding if this might be a good standing desk for them.

Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Review

The Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk was designed to provide customers with an affordable option to help them take advantage of the benefits associated with standing up while working. The desk was originally developed with components sourced from Jeicang, but after many customers experienced issues with the desk, the company turned to other sources for the components that are needed in order to improve the quality of the product.

After revising the original design, the company announced the release of the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 height adjustable desk. This time, the company decided to release two different versions of the disk – the Home Edition and the Business Edition. Now, customers can choose which of these versions are better suited to their preferences and the one that best matches their requirements in terms of a desk.

SmartDesk 2 Home Edition

The Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk Home Edition is certainly the best option among the two, available at a price of $348. The Home Edition is the smaller among the two, at a size of 53 x 30 – this is the size of the surface that provides space for keeping a laptop, along with other items, on top of the table.

The Home Edition of this table comes with a single-stage motor that uses an electronic system to adjust between different weights that allows the user to switch between a seated table to a standing desk. The system does feature a relatively slow transit speed when adjusting the height of the desk. The speed has been tested and confirmed to be 0.8 inches per second – this is actually on the lower side of the list when comparing the transit speed of top-related standing desks on the market that uses electric motors.

The minimum height of the Home Edition is 29 inches, while the maximum height that can be adjusted is 47 inches. This particular standing desk has a maximum weight capacity of 220 lbs, which can be considered somewhat impressive when we compare the construction of the product to other options that are currently available.

SmartDesk 2 Business Edition

The second version offered by the company, which is a new addition with the revised design, is the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk Business Edition. This particular version provides a series of upgrades from the Home Edition, which has been added  to provide a standing desk that is more appropriate for corporate needs – such as to have heavier and multiple items on the desk at the same time.

The Business Edition has a surface size of 70 x 30, which is a slight upgrade from the Home Edition. This allows the user to store more items on the surface of the standing desk, but it has to be noted that this is not a significant increase in surface size.

While the Home Edition features a single-stage motor, the Business Edition comes with an upgraded motor that is equipped with dual-stage features. The dual-motor electric motor can provide a faster transit speed, at around 2.1 inches per second. The downside to this particular motor, however, is that it seems to be quite noisy. There are many alternative options on the market that offer a similar speed without the noise.

The Business Edition of the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk comes with a digital readout that offers multiple memory presets that can be used to adjust the desk to various sizes easily.

This particular version of the product has a minimum height of 24 inches, along with a maximum height of 51 inches. The improved height system is appropriate for taller individuals who find that the Home Edition does not offer them an appropriate height. Additionally, this desk has an improved maximum weight capacity – the Business Edition can support weights of up to 300 lbs. This is quite an improvement over the 220 lbs featured by the Home Edition and allows for more items to be added to the surface of the table.

It is important to note that the Business Edition of this particular standing table does come at a higher cost compared to the Home Edition. Customers should expect to pay $100 more for the upgrades introduced by the Business Edition.

The Bottom Line

The price of the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk might be a selling point, considering the price of alternative options on the market, but there are many potential disadvantages associated with this standing desk that should be taken into account first. Several design flaws have been noted by previous customers who have invested in the desk, including problems with the electronic motor that is used to adjust the height of the desk.

Fortunately, customers are provided a limited warranty with the purchase of the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Standing Desk. This ensures factory faults that develop after the desk has been assembled can be fixed, or a replacement can be provided to the customer without leading to additional expenses from their side.
